navegar es necesario , to sail is necessary

Estan apenas cosidas.

I made this as a present for mi brother. The message made with nautical flags says To sail is necessary. By the side the picture of us in 2008 when we went to visit him in Brazil, Thre masks from different trip: Venice, Mexico and the one that my oldest brought as a present from Guatemala. Petrified wood I found at a garage sale. And the record player.

The inspiration came form the www. I barely sew them, fun.

In January together with the watercolor workshop I took a fabric dyeing class. I now have white cotton to start practicing what I learned. I am worried about the color fastness of hand dyed fabric. I prefer quilts made to wear and wash instead of wall hangings. Having said that I remember that I am sick and tired of the quilt that is hanging on my bedroom wall. The point is, if my dyeing is going to bleed in the washer machine then I rather not go there. But I already have the dye, and the white fabric is waiting.
